We gathered around a vision: Blue Note Junction
On Thursday, May 14th, 2026, we gathered around a vision: Blue Note Junction. The night was filled with powerful voices, from program participants, neighbors, and co-founders DeWayne Barton and Safi Martin, each helping tell the story of what Blue Note Junction can mean for our community 💙
“Trying to build affordable housing in Asheville — I don’t know if you ever tried, but it’s challenging. It’s challenging. So, we ain’t afraid of no ghost, and we’re trying to make the hustle real.” ~ DeWayne Barton
And yes, there were dance steps, too. Because community-building also makes room for dancing, joy, and play 🪩
“I’m just really excited about the combination of arts and entrepreneurship, and the affordable housing that Blue Note Junction is going to bring to Burton Street.” ~ Attendee
Thank you to every person who showed up and donated, and special thanks to One World Brewing West for hosting us, El Bodegon Street Food for feeding us, and Destro and Virtuous for sharing their music with us and inspiring us to dance 💃🏽
Help us bring Blue Note Junction to life!
“I believe in this community, and I believe in this project, and we need affordable housing. And I’m a real estate agent.” Carol, attendee
